YOUR BEST FRIEND

Words & music by Johnny Kahlua
Recorded at Kjeks Studio, Kristiansand in March 2007
Released on Tales From Undercover Frankie's Nest (2007)

You were so sweet the first day we met
Bought me things and cleaned up my place
But I realized I was her silhouette
She played me twice 'fore she turned her fake face
So I build me a castle and returned my reign
She wanted to fight, I told her to get lost
But the very next day we met up again
She begged on her knees for forgiveness at any cost

When we were playing we moved all around
From where you were standing you looked so exhaust
There you met him, the one only clown
The one who's fingers always are crossed
To make some love is your one only pleasure
So when you saw him it was your only thought
As to make him yours and save him from pressure
When I turned my back he was already caught

We sat at the table, buried in the night
Escaping from the moon, reaching for the sun
People were talking at the beam of light
I tried to get it right but it had begun
Her chase for redemption, her will to survive
Proved to much for me so I went to hide
As soon as I left she became so alive
Her eyes they shined, shining with pride

My sister was blooming, you even talked to her
On my mother's chair with spots 'fore her eyes
You seemed so righteous, and maybe you were
But you, you are the devil in disguise
I went back to find my enemy's nest
Walking so politely as he were standing there
With tears in his eyes and guilt in his chest
He said he was sorry, "I've been so unfair"

I miss her sweet scent and her bungalow view
Where the moon did shine and our lips they met
The one thing I'm sure of is my feelings for you
The moments we shared I'll never forget
But the troubles we had was left unresolved
The heatpipe got turned we fell overboard
Cold ocean liner got twisted and dissolved
My steamline's wrecked and now I'm ignored
