ABOUT
FIELD OF BLOOD

Words & music by Johnny Kahlua
Recorded at Sundown Studio, Kristiansand in April 2009
Released on Beneath the Sun (2009)

I just can't stop thinking of you
I'll just be sinking if I do
Like a ship without it's crew, like a shooting star in view
I'll be sinking like a stone

Ever since you came, the circle's been complete
I left sad dreams, bad regimes and faces in the street
No one can compete, not even Napoleon's feat
Where you sit upon your throne

The sun sets in the sky, the thunder will explode
High tides arrive, casting shadows 'cross the road
He was walking, dragging a heavy load
In the end he's all alone

Had a lot of silver, which he carried in the mud
Through the gates of hell, to the people in the flood
For he had sinned, betrayed the innocent blood
It's the prize to bemoan

When the morning arrived, all the people discussed
In the field of blood, beneath the diamond dust
What to do with the saviour whom they cried in disgust
Said, "let him die on his own"

"My hands are clean, I washed them in the rain
You've got nothing on me, I'm not the one to blame"
So he gave him to the crowd 'fore he bowed his head in shame
And went inside with a groan

I just can't stop thinking of you
I'll just be sinking if I do
Like a ship without it's crew, like a shooting star in view
I'll be sinking like a stone
